Additional Partners

We equip societal norm-shapers to build pluralism-in-action in their institutions and spheres of influence.

ADDITIONAL PARTNERS

DISSEMINATING bridge-building tools

RTT works with a range of select, influential institutions to disseminate bridge-building tools and model productive engagement across divides among their constituents and stakeholders.

Our techniques are being utilized at companies like Google; professional sports teams like the SF 49ers; foundations and philanthropy-serving organizations; and agricultural associations in rural America.

Those we’ve trained are healing workplace rifts over politics; teaching tools for difficult conversations to their teams; and building capacity among leaders for joint problem-solving. We are supporting leaders to build microcosms of healthy pluralism with those most proximate to us—in our workplaces and board rooms; in our schools and communities; and in our coalitions.

PROGRAM SPOTLIGHT

GROWING philanthropy’s role IN BRIDGE-BUILDING

As part of a three-year partnership, Resetting the Table is training senior leaders of the Council on Foundations in service of their Bridging Difference initiative

In the face of growing division, the Council seeks to support foundations to leverage their financial assets and convening power to “facilitate conversations, encourage unlikely collaborations, develop shared policy agendas, and… bring people together across perspectives and positions” in pursuit of the common good—from strengthening democracy to preventing hate and violence.

RTT has offered multiple rounds of skill-building, coaching, and "train-the-trainers" training to the Council’s executive team and board, supporting them to model courageous dialogue across differences among their own stakeholders as well as to spread bridge-building sensibilities and skills throughout the philanthropic sector.

Participating in Resetting the Table's Facilitator Training was transformative both on a personal level and as a team. I have always been nervous about facilitating hard conversations across difference and didn't think there was a way to actually do it well. The training showed me that we can hold space for these kinds of conversations in ways that are supportive of the participants and of greater social change. I am so excited to start to put everything I learned into practice. Thank you!”

Having the opportunity to both practice and be coached in 'getting to bullseye'—a beautiful skill to make the other person feel seen and known and understood—is essential to go from an intellectual appreciation and understanding of the power and importance of conflict transformation, to a visceral, intuitive, FELT belief of how much we all need this—for ourselves and others. Truly excellent... this felt like a personal gift.”

I think of myself as a very experienced facilitator, yet there I was, having ‘aha’ moment after ‘aha’ moment. Beyond the many skills I learned, I realized the deeper impact and importance of what we were learning in this session, rather than just seeing this as professional development. Everything I learned will help me with navigating difficult conversations and differences, and help me make people feel seen the way they want to be seen. [The facilitators] were incredibly intuitive and caring with their feedback and support—I wish I could bring them everywhere in my ear/head as a voice of reason!”

Resetting the Table reminded me why I entered nonprofit work: to have the greatest possible impact for the greatest number of people. I plan to facilitate conversations between grantees with differing viewpoints, approaches, and perspectives; by employing the skills learned, I believe I will allow participants in difficult conversations more of an opportunity to disagree openly and feel safe. The program offered the opportunity to learn an entirely new method of communication that is both immediately applicable—with demonstrable results—and is personally challenging... Applying the skills learned will allow me to communicate that I am a sincere thought partner to grantees and applicants.”

At a time when so much is unraveling in our social spaces, I learned skills to become a better listener, with intention and empathy. Resetting the Table increased my chances of having expanded and more meaningful conversations with those who may not hold my point of view. I left the session not only informed, but changed. Thank you!”
