Higher Education

We equip leaders in higher education to overcome escalation, build meaningful communication across divides, and disseminate bridge-building skillsets and mindsets.

OUR VISION FOR HIGHER EDUCATION

Training Ground for a shared democracy

While many universities are currently boiling over with toxic conflict, RTT envisions universities as potential training grounds for the habits, norms, and skills of democratic citizenship and a shared society.

We equip institutions with the tools and human infrastructure to restore universities to their core purpose of open inquiry and investigation of disparate ideas. We support universities to forge relationships, trust, productive communication, and learning across lines of difference.

RTT brings a long track record of success as a leading resource for de-escalating conflict, building trust across strongly opposing viewpoints, and building masterful practitioners embedded within institutional contexts.

This training will give you the skills you need to facilitate difficult dialogues and help create a culture of courageous conversation on your campus. The amount of constructive feedback I have received through this training has been wonderful and is truly unique. I feel more confident in encouraging my students to go deeper and engage in meaningful, challenging conversations that lead to real understanding and growth.

This outstanding course focuses on evidence-based techniques to truly listen and understand others during discussions, especially difficult ones. I most appreciate the thoughtful and intensive coaching by all the expert RTT coaches, who are all very passionate and skilled at teaching these much needed skills.”

Resetting the Table has truly been life changing for me, without exaggeration. Not only have I learned skills I’ll use both formally and informally for the rest of my career, but I’ve gotten the opportunity to do a deep dive over several months into the best and most productive ways to have difficult conversations with other human beings. Every day I find myself using some skill I learned from RTT, whether personally or professionally. It has also made me reconsider what kind of program I want to build on my campus, and how I can be a professional and an individual who embraces productive conflict instead of running from it. The work this organization does is so important and I’m honored to be a small part of it.”

This program was honestly the only time and space when I've felt comfortable talking about Israel/Palestine on this campus—not only in sharing my own views, but also in genuinely being open to hearing where other people stand.”

This was the most in-depth and professional-level facilitation training I have encountered. RTT staff clearly have developed a quality methodology deeply grounded in the most essential conflict management practices and theories. Immersing myself in this methodology was incredibly valuable… After completing this training, I feel empowered to hold conversations across some of our deepest divides, and as a result, hopefully help foster a more resilient and thriving community.”
